Overview
BMI is a screening measure that relates an adult’s weight to height. It can help describe weight categories at a population or screening level, but it does not diagnose a health condition and does not directly measure body fat or overall health. For adults, interpretation should be considered alongside medical history, health behaviors, physical findings, and other relevant information.
Formula
BMI = weight (kg) / height² (m).
Example
The default values provide a worked estimate that updates instantly when inputs change.
Methodology
The calculation divides weight in kilograms by height in metres squared. Calcify reports the numeric BMI as an estimate for adults and does not turn the result into a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. CDC guidance describes BMI as a screening measure and recommends considering it with other health information. The calculator uses only the values entered here; it does not access medical records or personal health datasets.
